The car market has been in recession for a long time after the Kovid-19 pandemic. However, things are changing. The auto market registered an increase in sales numbers due to smooth supply of raw material and festive season. A big credit of this growth can be attributed to the new car models in India that are attracting the consumers. Amongst the bunch of such models, we have compiled a list of top 10 best selling models in India. The list includes Maruti Suzuki Alto, Maruti Suzuki Wagon R, and more.
All names of hatchbacks used to be in the top 10 best selling models in India. But the dynamics in India are changing. Consumer attention is shifting from hatchbacks to SUVs, although most of the list still consists of hatchback names.
Starting with the list, Maruti Suzuki Alto topped the list with sales of 24,844 units in September 2022. It was followed by Maruti Suzuki Wagon R, which sold 20,078 units. Now moving on, the third spot on the list was occupied by another hatchback in the form of Maruti Suzuki Baleno.

Maruti Suzuki Brezza led the change in dynamics we mentioned in September, taking the fourth position with sales of 15,445 units. Tata Nexon was followed by Tata Nexon at the fifth position among the top 10 best-selling cars in India with sales of 14,518 units. These SUVs were followed by the Hyundai Creta which registered sales of 12,866 units.
Maruti Suzuki Eeco secured the seventh position with sales of 12,697 units. Eeco in the list is followed by Tata Punch which showed consistent performance in September with 12,251 units sold. The eighth and ninth positions in the list were occupied by Maruti Suzuki Swift and Hyundai Venue respectively. Maruti Suzuki Swift sold 11,988 units, while Hyundai Venue sold 11,033 units.
