10-year-old boy dies after being thrown from first floor of school building by teacher in Karnataka’s Gadag district

In a gruesome incident, a guest teacher thrashed a boy, threw him off the school building and attacked two others at Hadli village in Gadag district on Monday.

The accused, Muttappa Yalappa Hadgali, working at the government primary school in Hadali village, allegedly thrashed 10-year-old Bharath and threw the boy from the first floor.

He also hit the boy’s mother Geetha Yallappa Barkar, who worked as a guest teacher in the same school. While the boy breathed his last on the way to the hospital, the seriously injured mother is undergoing treatment at KIMS Hospital in Hubli.

According to senior police officials, when another teacher Sanganagouda Patil tried to stop them, the accused also attacked him. Sanganagouda Patil is undergoing treatment at Nargund Hospital.

The accused is absconding since the incident. The reason for his action is yet to be known.

Deputy Commissioner Vaishali, Superintendent of Police Sivaprakash Devaraju, DDPI Basavalingappa and others visited the village after the incident.

Additional police force has been deployed following tension in the village. Nargand police has started raids to find the accused.
