Omicron sub-variant found in 11 out of 124 international travelers who tested positive COVID-19 Official sources told on 5 January that between 24 December and 3 January and the presence of all these variants in India was reported earlier.

He said that 19,227 international passengers were tested at airports, sea ports and land ports in the said period, out of which 124 were found COVID positive and were put into isolation.

Sources said that out of 124 positive samples, genome-sequencing results of 40 were received, out of which 14 samples were found to be XBB and one sample was found to be BF 7.4.1.

Meanwhile, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya urged the citizens not to panic unnecessarily, but to be alert, follow the instructions issued by the government and not get carried away by misleading news related to Covid.

The government has made random COVID testing mandatory for 2% of passengers arriving on every international flight from December 24, irrespective of their port of departure.

Apart from this, passengers coming to India from China, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, Singapore and Thailand are being Compulsorily required to provide COVID-negative report From January 1st.

The test should be done not later than 72 hours before commencing travel to India and the negative report from RT-PCR test should be uploaded on the Air Suvidha portal before departure.

This will also apply to passengers transiting through six countries before arriving at any Indian airport, irrespective of their country of origin.
