11,466 new covid cases, 460 deaths reported in India in last 24 hours

New Delhi: India on Wednesday registered a single-day increase of 11,466 COVID-19 cases, taking the number of infections in the country to 3,43,88,579, while the number of active cases declined to 1,39,683, the lowest in 264 days , data from the Union Health Ministry showed.

As per the data updated at 8 am, the death toll due to the disease rose to 4,61,849, with 460 daily deaths recorded.

The daily increase in new coronavirus infections has been below 20,000 for 33 consecutive days. Less than 50,000 new cases have been reported daily for 136 consecutive days.

The number of active cases has come down to 1,39,683, comprising 0.41 per cent of the total infections, the lowest since March 2020, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 98.25 per cent, the highest since March 2020. Most of all, the ministry said.

The data shows a decrease of 955 cases in the active COVID-19 caseload in the 24-hour period.

The daily positivity rate was recorded at 0.90 per cent. It is less than two per cent from 37 days.

The weekly positivity rate was recorded at 1.20 per cent. According to the ministry, this figure has been below two percent for 47 days.

The number of people recovering from the disease has increased to 3,37,87,047, while the death rate has been recorded at 1.34 percent.

The cumulative number of doses administered in the country so far under the nationwide COVID-19 vaccination campaign has exceeded 109.63 crore.

India’s number of COVID-19 infections crossed 20 lakh on August 7, 2020, 30 lakh on 23 August, 40 lakh on 5 September, 50 lakh on 16 September, 60 lakh on 28 September, 70 lakh on 11 October . On October 29, lakhs, on November 20, 90 lakhs and on December 19, the figure of one crore.

India crossed the grim milestone of 20 million cases on May 4 and 30 million on June 23.
