New Delhi: Mathematics is always bad because of being tough on the students. But this year more than 12,000 students of class 10th have cracked this code. The results of class 10 and 12 board examinations released by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Friday show that 12,598 class 10 students have scored a perfect 100 in maths – making it the highest-scored subject this year .
The pass percentage of class 10th this year is 94.4 percent 19,76,668 students who passed the exam.
Last year – when the exams were Cancelled Due to the pandemic and students were promoted to the next class based on the prescribed criteria – the figure stood at 99.04 per cent.
This year the pass percentage of class 12th is 92.7 percent, which is less than last year’s 99.37 percent.
CBSE had announced last year that rationalize its curriculum, it will conduct its class 10 and 12 board exams in two parts – “Term I” and Term “II” for the 2021-22 academic session. Term I exam was conducted in November-December last year and Term II exam was conducted in April-May this year. whereas Term I was given 30 per cent weightage, Term II was given 70 per cent weightage.
The board had said that both the sets of marks would be added for the final tally.
In another departure from its usual practice, CBSE neither declared its list of toppers for class 10 and 12 exams, nor allotted divisions to students this year. The board has blamed the Kovid epidemic for this decision.

highest scoring subject
In Class 10, Science (9,123 students) was the subject with the second highest total of 100 marks. It was followed by Sanskrit (5,200), Social Sciences (5,116), and English Language and Literature (4,244).
In class 12, the subjects with the highest marks (100 percent) were Vocational Studies (4,710), Hindi Music-Vocal (4,634), and Physical Education (4,286).
Among the science subjects, Chemistry had the highest 100 – 3,548. The number was 2,890 for Mathematics, 753 for Biology and 530 for Physics.
In Humanities, 549 students scored 100 percentile in English Core. This number was 2,199 for Psychology, 1,171 for Political Science, 1,166 for Sociology, 935 for History, 877 for Economics and 686 for Geography.
In commerce, 2,463 students scored 100% in accountancy.
‘Exam process long’
School principals ThePrint said that this year there will be changes in the exam pattern and The preparation for Common University Entrance Test (CUET) resulted in less marks in class 12.
Introduced in this academic year, CUET is an entrance exam for undergraduate and postgraduate programs in 45 central universities.
Jyoti Arora, principal of Mount Abu Public School in Mount Abu, Rajasthan, said that physical education is a subject that usually fetches good marks every year.
She said: “Sports and PE [are subjects] Where children enjoy practical classes and love to learn about the theory of the game they play. Every year our students score well in this subject.”
Ritu Mehra, principal The student of Delhi’s Sheikh Sarai’s Apeejay School said that due to the change in the exam pattern, it was difficult for the students to score full 100 marks in English., Additionally, students had difficulty adjusting to the objective-style test in Term I.
“English is a subject in which students have a habit of writing long answers, the objective style paper was new and a bit difficult for them. Though students made up for the marks they lost in their Term II papers, the troubles of Term I took away many students who could score 100,” she said.
He said last year the examination process was coming to an end.
“Students had to appear for the board twice and then there was additional pressure on them to appear in entrance exams like CUET and NEET. Students did not have enough time for preparation and revision,” she said. “We are hoping that this year (2022-23 academic session), a normal one exam pattern will reduce the stress on the students,” she said.
