New Delhi: According to the Union Health Ministry, with 12,830 people testing positive for the coronavirus infection in a day, the total number of Covid-19 cases in India rose to 3,42,73,300, while the active cases decreased to 1,59,272, which Lowest in 247 days. Data updated on Sunday.
The death toll rose to 4,58,186 with 446 fresh deaths, according to the data updated at 8 am.
The daily increase in new coronavirus infections has been below 20,000 for 23 straight days and less than 50,000 daily new cases have been reported for 126 consecutive days.
The ministry said active cases comprise 0.46 per cent of the total infections, the lowest since March 2020, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate has been recorded at 98.20 per cent.
The active Covid-19 caseload has registered a decline of 2,283 cases in a 24-hour period.
India’s COVID-19 tally had crossed 20 lakhs on August 7, 2020, 30 lakhs on 23rd August, 40 lakhs on 5th September and 50 lakhs on 16th September. It had crossed 60 lakh on 28 September, 70 lakh on 11 October. 80 lakh on 29 October, 90 lakh on 20 November and crossed the one crore mark on 19 December.
India crossed the grim milestone of 20 million on 4 May and 30 million on 23 June.
