Amman: One last body was retrieved from the rubble of a collapsed building JordanThe search operation in the capital’s capital on Saturday ended after four days, taking the total number of dead to 14.
Amer al-Saratawi, a public security spokesman, said rescue teams were able to retrieve one dead person on Saturday, bringing the death toll to 14.
A massive rescue operation began after a four-storey residential building collapsed on Tuesday Jabal Al-Webdehone of ammanOldest neighbourhood.
The discovery of the body, which medical sources said was a woman, meant that all missing were accounted for, marking the end of search efforts.
State media said Jordan’s public prosecutor has ordered the arrest of three people under investigation, including the building manager, as well as two others who are involved in the repair work.
The site of the tragedy is in the capital’s central Jabal al-Webedeh district, known for its vibrant cultural life and home to a large number of expatriates.
On Thursday, emergency personnel safely rescued a four-month-old girl from the rubble with only minor injuries.
