Officials said 19 more Sri Lankan Tamils, including six women and five children, fled their country in a boat in the early hours of Sunday and reached here.
Following inputs that a group of Sri Lankan Tamils reached the Arisalmunai area of Dhanushkodi late on Saturday night, about 19 km from here, police personnel including maritime officials found them and took them to the Mandapam camp.
The Tamils told the policemen that they had come by boat from Sri Lanka and were deboarded from Dhanushkodi.
The Tamil people, including eight men, said that they could not survive in their country given the economic crisis and the current political instability.
After the crisis broke out in the island nation, 10 Tamils left their homes and came to Tamil Nadu and so far 29 people have reached here.
