2 workers buried alive in Tamil Nadu as construction site caves: Police

Udhagamandalam, Tamil Nadu:

On Sunday, two construction workers working at a construction site were buried alive, while two others managed to escape after a chunk of soil buried them.

According to the police, construction work was going on in the outskirts of Moskhekorai and four laborers were cleaning the area. Suddenly, the earth fell upon them.

Though two people managed to save themselves, the other two got buried under the soil.

He said that the fire brigade and rescue service personnel reached the spot and pulled out the bodies, which have been sent to the government hospital for postmortem.

Nilgiris District Collector Amrit along with senior officials visited the spot. An inquiry has been ordered into whether the work was illegal or not.
