Audi India has finally announced the launch date for the 2021 Audi Q5 facelift, which will go on sale in the country on November 23, 2021. Audi unveiled the facelifted Q5 globally in June 2020, and the SUV was expected to launch very soon. However, the company had to postpone the launch due to the challenges imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic. The Ingolstadt-based carmaker began local assembly of the updated Q5 in India in October, and bookings for the SUV have also started for a token amount of ₹2 lakh.

The updated Q5 arrives in our market as a Completely Knocked Down (CKD) unit and is assembled at Audi’s parent company VW Group’s Skoda Auto Volkswagen India Private Limited (SAVWIPL) plant in Aurangabad, Maharashtra. In fact, the Audi Q5 moniker is coming back to India after a gap of almost 18 months. The Audi Q5, which was a BS4 model before the facelift, has not been on sale in India since April 2020. The 2021 model will be offered in two trims – Premium Plus and Technology.

Visually, the 2021 Audi Q5 comes with a new, larger single-frame grille with chrome borders, as well as vertical slats and silver skid plates finished in chrome. The SUV also gets large foglamp housings, which are finished in black with silver roof rails and side skirts. In terms of exterior features, it gets a pair of revised full-LED headlamps along with new LED daytime running lamps. The SUV also gets 5 double-spoke star style alloy wheels measuring 19-inches along with all-new LED taillights.

Inside, the Q5 now gets a refreshed cabin with black on the dash and okapi brown on the seats. Of course, Audi will offer more trim options and customization options. The luxury SUV comes with a new steering wheel, dual-zone automatic climate control and a ton of storage options. Audi has also equipped the Q5 with the third generation modular infotainment platform or MIB 3. The system is equipped with a 10.1-inch display, which is standard. Other expected features include – Wireless Phone Charger, Audi Park Assist, Comfort Key with sensor-controlled boot-lid operation, Audi Exclusive Inlay in Black Piano Lacquer, Audi Virtual Cockpit Plus, B&O Premium 3D Sound System.
The Q5 now gets black interiors, tan leather upholstery and a refreshed cabin with Audi’s third-generation modular infotainment platform or MIB 3.

Under the hood, the India-spec 2021 Audi Q5 will come with a 2.0-litre 45 TFSI petrol engine that makes 247 bhp and 370 Nm of peak torque. The engine also gets 12-volt mild-hybrid system with brake energy recovery. The motor comes mated to a 7-speed S-tronic automatic dual-clutch gearbox and will get a quattro all-wheel drive (AWD) system as standard.
