Force Motors is currently gearing up to launch the new-gen BS6 variant of its popular 4×4 off-road SUV – the Force Gurkha. First showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo as a pre-production concept, the SUV was expected to be launched last year, however the challenges imposed by the Covid-19 pandemic forced the company to postpone the launch . However, right now Force Motors is releasing several teasers of the new Gurkah, which indicates that the launch is near. So, here’s everything we know about the 2021 Force Gurkha BS6 so far.

  1. The 2021 Force Gurkha will retain its signature design, although the SUV has received several styling updates to give it an upmarket look. These include LED lighting, alloy wheels and sharp character lines on the bonnet that give it a muscular stance.
  2. Force Motors has been releasing several teasers for the upcoming 4×4 SUV, revealing a slew of new features that will be on offer. These include – LED Pro Edge headlamps, LED daytime running lamps, fender lights with new branding, new ORVMs that now come with the iconic Kukri engraving, new signature taillights and a new Gurkha badge on the tailgate.
  3. The Force Gurkha is a purpose-built off-road SUV and thus comes with a host of elements specially designed for those challenging terrains. Some of those features include – a new snorkel, redesigned ‘shark gill’ on the fenders for better airflow, and a new larger rear windshield for better visibility.
  4. Based on multiple spy photos, we also know that the SUV will come with side steps, a tailgate mounted spare wheel, and an optional heavy-duty roof carrier and ladder access at the rear. The Force Gurkha will be a 3-door SUV, though a 5-door option could also be on offer.

As for the cabin, based on the previous spy pictures, we know that the new Gurkha will continue to come with an all-black cabin with an updated dashboard, which will come with a touchscreen infotainment system for the first time. The SUV also gets a new steering wheel, and we expect to see a new instrument cluster along with a digital MID unit.
  6. The Gurkha will also get glossy black bezels along with large air-con vents, which is a manual HVAC system. The cabin will have a 7-seater layout with separate seats for the driver and front passenger, second row bench seats and two side-facing jump seats at the rear.

  7. Under the hood, the upcoming Force Gurkha is expected to be powered by a 2.6-litre diesel engine from Mercedes-Benz which will be a BS6-compliant unit. The powertrain belongs to the OM616 family and is tuned to produce 89 bhp and 260 Nm of peak torque.
  8. Transmission duties will be handled by a 5-speed manual gearbox with a manual 4X4 as standard. The SUV will be equipped with an independent front suspension and a rigid axle at the rear.
