performance and mobility
(The i20 N line gets up to 30% stronger suspension. It works well on good roads, but tremors will be felt inside the cabin on bad roads. More confident when the car turns hard)
Correct! I’m sitting upright, belted on and off the mark! I mean performance is the major USP here, so that’s where we start! The i20 N line trim is only offered with the top-spec 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine, with either an iMT unit or a 7-speed DCT unit, which you also get on the regular i20. Of course, there are some key differences between the standard i20 and the N line. The suspension has been beefed up, Hyundai says up to 30 percent! Well, there is a perceptible difference and it’s more apparent when you toss the car into a corner! The car holds its line better, giving you more confidence as well as feeling more engaged.

(Added more weight to the steering. Feels better to hold, slightly improved feedback)
Again, Hyundai also says that the steering has been slightly restructured to provide more weight and better center feel at higher speeds. After spending a few hours with the car, we’d say there’s no difference between how the steering feels on a standard car and how it feels on the N Line, but the feeling of the added weight, providing a touch feel better. When you push the car hard into a corner.
(Disc brakes on all four wheels mean slightly better stopping power. The brakes still feel a bit spongy though)
Further strengthening the sporty credentials, the i20 N line gets disc brakes on all four wheels, paddle-shifters on the DCT variant and a throatier, richer exhaust note! We are of the opinion that the i20 N line is probably the best sounding car in the ₹10 Lakh to ₹15 Lakh bracket. It feels really good! The pedal-shifters definitely make the drive more attractive and the four disc brakes mean the bite becomes a bit more powerful, 1.4 percent, or so says Hyundai! However, the brakes still have that mildly spongy feel that hasn’t completely gone away.

Our experience with the i20 tells us that the engine is sporty, with that loud vibe you’ve been looking for. The initial response from the DCT is a bit sluggish but once you put the car in Sport mode, things start looking better.
(Paddleshifts make the car more attractive to drive, especially when immediate acceleration is needed)
So, we told you how it runs and how it handles! But how does it do when you drive it comfortably, in the city and on the broken roads, you are going to feel the ups and downs inside the cabin! On smooth tarmac, the car appears to be slipping, but bad roads are likely to be a problem.

design
(The sporty bumpers along with the new colors and new alloy wheel design give the i20 N line more presence than the regular model)
Correct! Apart from its dynamics, the i20 N line also gets significant design updates. There’s a distinct, sharp bumper up front, gloss black elements, the N Line logo and a checkered flag pattern for the front grille! Sleek…a spoiler with red accents scattered around the car, an attractive rear bumper with diffuser, twin-pipe exhaust and new color schemes add to that delectable sporty flavour. The price of the Polo with the 1.0-litre TSI engine starts at ₹ 7.70 Lakh and goes up to ₹ 9.99 Lakh, with a total of 7 variants available, making it significantly more affordable than the i20 N line.

0 notes
If you have the budget and you have the hint of a driving enthusiast, the i20 N line promises to deliver a better, richer, more engaging driving experience. Good performance, a chunky exhaust note and exclusivity are guaranteed. Otherwise, the standard i20 works equally well.
