2022 Mahindra Scorpio-N Launch: Features, Variants and Prices Announced! – times of India

On 27th June 2022, Mahindra And Mahindra launched the much-awaited Scorpio-N SUV, the successor to its highly popular Scorpio. Over the months, we have been hearing many rumors and speculations about the features, variants and engine options of the Scorpio-N. Introducing speculations come true with the launch of ‘Big Daddy of SUVs’.
What has been confirmed:
At 4,662mm, 1,917mm in width and 1,870mm in height, the Scorpio-N is much bigger than the Scorpio Classic. But still works on a body-on-frame architecture like its predecessor.

The Scorpio-N will get Mahindra’s 4XPLOR Terrain System

The Scorpio-N will be available in a total of five trims namely Z2, Z4, Z6, Z8 and Z8L. Out of which, the Z8 ans Z8L variant is being offered with a four-wheel-drive option with only a diesel engine option. In addition, the SUV is equipped with Mahindra’s latest 4XPLOR Intelligent Terrain Management System which includes multiple driving modes – Tarmac, Snow, Mud and Desert.
The 4×4 drivetrain gets a low-range gearbox and mechanical locking differential. Apart from this, the Scorpio-N will get the same frequency selective dampers as the XUV700. The Penta Link rear suspension will give the Scorpio-N better handling with Watts Linkage, the first in the segment.

Engine and Transmission Options:
The Scorpio-N will be the latest model from Mahindra to offer a 2.0-litre Amstallion turbo-petrol engine and a 2.2-litre mHawk diesel. While the petrol engine is ready to produce 200 PS of power and 380 Nm of torque. The mHawk diesel will produce 175 PS of power and 400 Nm of torque. The lower diesel variant will give power of 132 PS. Both automatic and manual transmission options will be a 6-speed gearbox.
Security:
While the Scorpio Classic got a safety rating of 0 stars from Global-NCAP. The 2022 Scorpio-N gets 6 airbags, ABS, ESC, driver dryness detection, hill hold/descent and more. Mahindra is determined to score a 5-star rating for the Scorpio-N with this new model this year.

The 2022 Mahindra Scorpio-N has been launched in India in five wide variants. Even in the base Z2 variant, Mahindra is offering touchscreen infotainment, second row AC vents, steering audio control (petrol). Penta Link suspension with linkage of LED tail lamps and indicators and Watts. On the other end of the spectrum, the Z8L gets powered front seats, 12-speaker Sony audio system, front camera and park assist sensors, wireless charging, all-LED lighting, push-button start, keyless entry, dual zone AC, 4XPLOR 4×4 system and A lot too. The base Z2 variant was announced with a sticker price of Rs 11.99 lakh for the petrol MT and Rs 12.49 lakh for the diesel MT. The Z4 MT will be priced at Rs 13.49 lakh for petrol and Rs 13.99 lakh for diesel. The medium Z6 variant will be available only in diesel and will cost Rs 14.99 lakh for the MT. The top of the line Z8L diesel with manual transmission has been launched at Rs 19.49 lakh and the lower Z8 diesel manual transmission will be offered at Rs 17.49 lakh. Prices for the automatic transmission and 4WD models will be announced on July 21. Mahindra also said that these starting prices will be applicable only for the first 25,000 bookings.
The Mahindra Scorpio-N also gets a new grille with six chrome slats and a honeycomb mesh for the air dam with LED fog lamps and C-shaped DRLs. It has been confirmed that the Scorpio-N will be offered with 18-inch alloy wheels in the automatic variant and 17-inch allowed wheels in the manual variant. On the inside, the Scorpio-N is just above the Classic. It gets a dual-tone leather interior and an 8-inch infotainment system that is powered by Mahindra’s AdrenoX platform, similar to what we saw on the XUV700.
During the launch event, Mahindra announced that the ‘add-to-cart’ option for the Scorpio-N will go live on their official website from July 5. Booking is also going to start from 11 am on July 30. Test drives for the new SUV will begin on July 5 in 30 major cities across India. Deliveries are expected to start later this year during the festive season.
