Maruti Suzuki India marked its 2022 start with the launch of the new Maruti Suzuki Celerio The S-CNG in the country, in a single variant, was offered at a price of ₹ 6.58 lakh (ex-showroom, India). The new Celerio S-CNG is Maruti’s sixth CNG-equipped car in the country, available on the VXi variant, at a premium of ₹45,000 over the same petrol variant. The S-CNG variant of the Celerio, apart from getting a new powertrain, also gets cosmetic updates that come with the new generation Celerio.

Shashank Srivastava, Senior Executive Director (Marketing & Sales), Maruti Suzuki India Limited, said, “The launch of the new Celerio S-CNG will take us closer to our ambition of mass adoption of green vehicles in India. Interestingly, the S-CNG variant in the previous generation Celerio accounted for over 30 per cent of the total sales. With new 3D organic sculpted design, energetic and spacious cabin and S-CNG technology, the all-new Celerio S-CNG will provide customers with an affordable, safe and high performance green vehicle. We are confident that customers will appreciate the great fuel efficiency of the all-new Celerio S-CNG.

The major difference over the 2022 Maruti Suzuki Celerio S-CNG, is its powertrain, as it now features the new-gen K10C petrol engine, which is tuned to generate 41.7kW @ 5,300 rpm and 48.0kW @ 5,500 rpm in CNG mode. Petrol Mode. The new Celerio S-CNG makes 82.1Nm of peak torque in CNG mode and 89Nm in petrol mode, while the standard petrol version churns out 66bhp and 89Nm @ 3,500rpm. The company claims that the new Maruti Suzuki Celerio S-CNG delivers a mileage of 35.60 km/kg and has a tank capacity of 60-litres.

The launch of Maruti Suzuki’s S-CNG vehicle range is aligned with the Indian government’s vision to reduce oil imports and increase the share of natural gas in the country’s primary energy mix from 6.2 per cent to 15 per cent by 2030. The government is working to rapidly expand the CNG fuel pump network in the country. The Maruti Suzuki factory-fitted S-CNG vehicles are equipped with dual interdependent electronic control units and an intelligent injection system, which are specially tuned and calibrated to deliver optimum performance and superior maneuverability over all types of terrain.
