Prices of the XL6 start at Rs 11.29 lakh, though it lacks a true entry-level variant.

On the price front, it is the Ertiga that is the cheapest starting at ₹ 8.35 Lakh – a notable ₹ 1.24 Lakh more affordable than the next car on the list, the Kia Carence petrol. At ₹11.29 lakh, the XL6 is positioned similar to a lower mid-spec Carens, though to be fair Maruti doesn’t offer a more bare-bones version of the XL6. While the XL6 lacks the Sigma and Delta variants offered in its Nexa compatriot, the MPV is only available in Zeta, Alpha and a new range-topping Alpha+.

The XL6 is costlier by Rs 1.76 lakh as compared to the Rs 14.55 lakh XL6 Ertiga, though it does get you some extra features like tire pressure monitor, 360 degree camera and ventilated front seats.

The Carrier is available with a wide variety of variants and multiple powertrain options

On the diesel side of things, only the Marazzo and Carens cost the former two in terms of starting price. At ₹ 13.17 lakh, the starting price of the Marazzo is higher though the Carens gets quite expensive in the higher variants. The Marazzo is also the only ladder-frame MPV to become a segment dominated by monocoque MPVs.

Talking about the MPV, one cannot really miss out on the venerable Innova Crysta. The price of MPV from Toyota starts at ₹ 17.45 Lakh and goes up to ₹ 25.68 Lakh, making it the most expensive MPV available till date. However, you pay more for an MPV in the larger and higher segment for the XL6 and its rivals.

The Marazzo is one of two diesel MPVs in the segment and the only one with a ladder-frame construction.

Overall, in terms of pricing, Maruti can still say that it has some of the most affordable cars in the market, with the Ertiga being the most affordable model in the list so far and while more affordable than the base variant XL6 , it is not needed. Compared to the XL6, the mid-spec Zeta lacks any variants below. Meanwhile, diesel buyers have fewer options in this segment with the main options being only the Marazzo or the Carens.
