The C 220d and C 300d are likely to be more expensive, with the top-spec C 300d priced closer to Rs 65 lakh. Anything less and the C-Class could give tough competition to the Audi A4, BMW 3 Series, Jaguar XE and the Volvo S60.

2022 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Engine Options

As we said, Mercedes-Benz India will offer three engine options on the C-Class. C 200 petrol, C 220d diesel and the most powerful engine, C 300d. The only petrol engine on offer is a 1.5-litre unit, while the diesel mill is a 2.0-litre unit. In addition, all three engine options get an Integrated Starter Generator (ISG) with EQ Boost, which churns out a significant 15 bhp of extra power and up to 200 Nm of additional torque.

2022 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Styling
Our time spent with the new generation Si impressed us, especially as Mercedes used its ‘sensual purity’ design language on the car. The exterior, in particular, works very well, with the pulled-back cab-rearward design, power bulges on the bonnet and AMG trim on the C 300d making it the sportiest of the Avant Garde line on the C 200 and C 220d, The most attractive model of the C-Class yet.

2022 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Cabin & Tech
Along with the exterior design, the S-Class inspired themes are more evident on the inside. The highlight is the new 11.9-inch vertical touchscreen which gets the latest generation of MBUX based on the NTG7. It is a connected car, along with a slew of ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) features such as Active Brake Assist and Active Parking Assist. The new Si also gets a feature called ‘Cars-to-X’, which is similar to a cars social network where Mercedes cars with MBUX can communicate with each other and share information on a real-time basis. Huh. The top-spec C 300d also gets Mercedes’ smart digital lights that use up to 1.3 million pixels for lighting and can be configured according to the direction of the traffic.
(The C-Class MBUX drives the 7NTG, while the model also gets several ADAS features including automatic emergency braking, park assist and more)
In terms of dimensions, the main attraction is the wheelbase, which has been increased by 25 mm to 2,856 mm and the overall length of the car has increased by 65 mm. The width of the car also increases by 10 mm. and yes! This translates into more space for the occupants.

Like most modern premium cars, the touchscreen houses almost all of the car controls and, therefore, gives the dashboard a clean, refined look. Another highlight is the HD instrument panel, which houses various themes and settings. Touchpad controls on the steering are now more flush. You get a Burmester sound system, ambient lighting, a connected car telematics suite that works with the Mercedes Me app, wireless charging, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and Alexa or Google Home integration.
