Talking about the design, no significant changes have been made in its exterior. Minor changes have been made to the front and rear bumpers and the SUV now gets newly designed British windmill turbine-themed alloy wheels (only in the 4×4 variant). The SUV is now being offered in the newly introduced ‘Deep Golden’ color option in addition to the existing colors like Agate Red, Metal Ash, Warm White and Metal Black.
Talking about the interior, the SUV gets a 31.2 cm touchscreen infotainment system with 12 speaker audio system. The infotainment system now features smart-tech inclusion of over 75 connected car features, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, first in segment Shortpedia news app and song song search via voice commands. MG has also added 35+ Hinglish commands.
MG Motor claims that vehicle owners can use the app as a remote for audio, air conditioning and ambient lighting in addition to the existing i-Smart functions. Previously, the i-Smart was only compatible with Apple Watch users, but with the update, it has been made accessible to Android-based smartwatch users as well.
The SUV now also gets a MapmyIndia-sourced navigation system that will now provide real-time weather and AQI information.
Talking about other features, it gets an all-terrain system with 7 modes, dual panoramic sunroof, 12-way adjustable electric seats, driver massage and ventilation function, wireless charging and more.
Powertrain and gearbox options remain unchanged, with the SUV being powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine that is available in two states, 160 bhp/375 Nm and 215 bhp/ 480 Nm. Both the engines come mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission as standard.
MG Motor India also announced that it will introduce “My MG Shield”, a personalized car ownership program with over 180 after-sales service options. Also, the customers will be offered a standard 3+3+3 package, i.e. three years of unlimited kilometer warranty, three years of roadside assistance and three labour-free periodic services.
The MG Gloster competes with the Toyota Fortuner, Skoda Kodiaq, Volkswagen Taigun, Jeep Meridian and the recently launched Mahindra Scorpio-N.
