As soon as the lights went out, Bagnia was ahead during the race and at the finish line. Italian caught a holeshot from Ennia Bastianini (Gracini Racing MotoGP), slips to P3 with Miller George Martin (Prima Primac Racing) held P4. Quartaro got off to a good start but at the end of the first lap, Maverick Viales (Aprilia Racing) overtook the Frenchman to demote the championship leader to P6.
Fourth place for Marini is the Italian’s best result so far in the Premier Class, eventually finishing fifth by less than half a second to Zarco. Alex was some 2.4s ahead Espargaro Joe saw his loss to Quartaro extend to 32 points towards Misano, but on a tough weekend for the Spaniard, it could have been worse than P9 on the grid.

Brad Binder (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) gave KTM a P7 on his home patch, it was another solid Sunday for South Africa, as he and Rins were separated by tenths on the line. Marco Bezzecchi (Moonie VR46 Racing Team) claimed a P9 ahead of 10th placed Martin, the latter being able to remount after his last lap tumble at Turn 1.
Fabio Di Giannantonio (Gresini Racing MotoGP), Miguel Oliveira (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing), Viñales, Alex Marquez (LCR Honda Castrol), and Andrea Dovizioso (WithU Yamaha RNF MotoGP Team) round out the point positions at the Red Bull Ring.
The Italian’s future looks bright this season and is followed by Bagnia’s home race at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli – a track he knows as the back of his hand. Although Quartaro extended his lead, the Frenchman, Espargaro and Bagania are now split by only 44 points. game on.
