25 years of form now, India will occupy the top spot at the world level: Amit Shah

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday said that India will occupy the top spot on the world stage 25 years from now, making great strides in the fields of education, arts and defence, in the last 75 years. Addressing a function at the Victoria Memorial to commemorate the 75th year of independence and the declaration of Bengal’s Durga Puja as an intangible global heritage by UNESCO, Shah said the honor of the global institution was a matter of pride for the entire country.

“In every field – education, arts, defence, you name it, India has made great progress in the last 75 years. It has gained international respect as a great power when the country reached its 100th year of independence. India will occupy the top spot in the world,” Shah predicted. On the issue of UNESCO’s honor for Bengal’s Durga Puja, he said, “It is a matter of pride not only for the state but for the entire country.” Shah said that though today people talk of women empowerment, but ancient scriptures of India have recognized it many centuries ago. All these years there has been women empowerment in India.”

“Durga Puja is worshiping the goddess, ‘Stree Shakti’ (feminine power) is female empowerment. She is a power called by all the gods (in the Hindu trinity) – Brahma, Vishnu, Maheshwara – to kill the demon India had shown the world how to celebrate women power for ages,” said the Home Minister. Shah pointed out that apart from Durga Puja, which was awarded UNESCO honor in December 2021, India also got the first Kumbh Mela and Yoga was recognized by UNESCO.

He said, “The whole world turns to India for our rich cultural heritage while the whole country is proud of the rich cultural heritage of Bengal.” Shah paid heartfelt tributes to the freedom fighters who “have made it possible for us to breathe in a country free from their sacrifices.” He referred to revolutionaries like Khudiram Bose of Bengal in this context. Bengal showed the way to the nation in the freedom movement as an art form, he said.

Complimenting the artists in the cultural show, he said, “I can understand Bengali songs in song and dance shows. They show the rich cultural heritage of India which is a confluence of different aspects – from Gujarat to Bengal, Kashmir to Till Bengal. Kanyakumari. Unity in diversity is India’s strength.” ,
