A 28-year-old man was allegedly murdered in Mumbai after a fight over stalking one of the three men, a police officer said on Monday.
The deceased, Ronit Bhalekar, who worked in a call centre, was in an inebriated condition and was with a friend at the time of the incident, which happened in the early hours of Sunday, near a restaurant in Matunga area. Later all the three accused were arrested, he said.
Bhalekar got into a scuffle with the three accused for staring at one. The officer said the accused allegedly hit her on the head with a belt, punched her repeatedly, kicked her in the chest and abdomen, abused her and slammed her to the ground twice.
The young man fell on the spot. He was taken to the civil hospital where he was declared brought dead before admission, the official said.
Later Shahu Nagar police arrested the three accused and booked them under sections 302 (murder), 323, 324 (voluntarily causing hurt), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace), 506 (criminal) of the Indian Penal Code. registered a case under The officer said intimidation) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention).
The accused were produced in a local court on Sunday from where they were remanded to three-day police custody, he said.
