Twenty-nine students in a private nursing school in Shivamogga, Karnataka have been found to be COVID-19 positive, said Shivamogga Deputy Commissioner KB Shivakumar.
He further informed that most of them are asymptomatic.
Shivakumar said, “We are doing random sampling at several places and found out that some students from different states in a private nursing school contracted COVID. We have sealed the hostel premises. Almost from the institute. 29 students have turned out to be positive.” ,
To control any possibility of spread of infection in the area, the Deputy Commissioner said that samples of the people of the area are being investigated.
To prevent transmission of the infection, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has announced that any area with three or more COVID-19 cases will be classified as a cluster.
Meanwhile, Karnataka on Saturday reported 397 new COVID-19 cases, 277 recoveries and four deaths. According to the health department, there are 7,012 active cases.
Earlier this week, India’s first two cases of the new COVID-19 variant Omicron were detected in Karnataka. So far, four cases of Omicron infection have been reported in India.
