373 new Covid-19 cases reported in Delhi in last 24 hours, positivity rate is 4.95%

Delhi on Thursday recorded 373 new Covid-19 cases, two deaths and 448 recoveries in a span of 24 hours. Delhi’s health department said the active coronavirus cases in the national capital stood at 1490.

With these new cases, the national capital’s total Covid-19 tally has risen to 1907637, while the death toll stands at 26,212, with a mortality rate of 1.37%.

The cumulative COVID-19 vaccine doses administered in the national capital crossed 3,42,70,560 while the country’s vaccination coverage exceeded 193.70 crore (1,93,70,51,104) as of 7 am today, provisional reports . This has been achieved through 2,46,20,654 sessions.

India’s active caseload currently stands at 19,509. Active cases now account for 0.05% of the total positive cases in the country.

India’s recovery rate is 98.74%. In the last 24 hours, 2,584 patients have been cured and the total number of cured patients (since the start of the pandemic) now stands at 4,26,20,394.

The country recorded 3,712 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours.

A total of 4,41,989 COVID-19 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours. India has conducted 85.13 crore (85,13,38,595) cumulative tests so far.

The weekly positivity rate in the country is currently 0.67% and the daily positivity rate is reported to be 0.84%.

The nationwide vaccination campaign was launched on January 16 last year, in which health workers were vaccinated in the first phase. The vaccination of frontline workers started from February 2 last year.

The next phase of the COVID-19 vaccination campaign began on March 1 last year for people above 60 years of age and 45 years and above with specified concomitant conditions.

India started vaccination for all people above 45 years of age from 1st April last year.

The government then decided to expand its vaccination campaign, allowing everyone above 18 years of age to be vaccinated against the viral disease, from May 1 last year.

The next phase of vaccination began on January 3 for adolescents in the age group of 15-18 years.

India began giving preventive doses of vaccines to health care and frontline workers and people aged 60 years and above from January 10.

The country began immunizing children aged 12-14 years from March 16 and also removed the comorbidity clause, making everyone over the age of 60 eligible for a precautionary dose of the COVID vaccine.
