38.2% of COVID-19 cases in India refer to XBB.1.16: Bulletin

The new variant XBB.1.16 has been observed in different parts of the country and 38.2 percent of all COVID-19 cases reported so far are of the same variant. This information has been given in the new bulletin of Indian SARS Cove-2 Private Organization (INS ACOG). The March 27 bulletin, issued on Jupiter, states that XBB has been the most commonly broadcast Omicron subformat, with ties consolidated until the third week of March 2023.

The bulletin states that Omicron and its subtypes continue to spread in India and have seen an increase in infections, especially in the western, southern and northern parts of India. The bulletin states, ‘Description of a new form XB.1.16 has been seen in different parts of India. So far, cases of infection have been reported, out of which 38.2 percent are of XBB.1.16.
