66 positive passengers aboard the cruise ship were sent to hotel quarantine

All 66 COVID-19 positive passengers The Cordelia cruise ship had been evacuated and taken to quarantine at hotels in Mumbai, officials said on Wednesday.

While they were offered to be taken to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s COVID-19 facility at Byculla, all of them opted for hotel quarantine and are staying in hotels at their own expense.

The passengers who had tested negative in Goa are on board the ship as their RT-PCR reports are awaited. Those coming negative will be sent to home quarantine.

The BMC had on Tuesday made it clear that they would not allow anyone to disembark from the Mumbai-Goa ship, which had 1,400 people on board.

Once the cruise ship reached Mumbai around 6:30 pm, the civic body started screening passengers from Tuesday evening

27 of the infected passengers reportedly refused to disembark, following which the ship was turned back from Mormugao in South Goa at 11.30 pm on Monday. They were reportedly passengers with families and their next of kin who had tested negative.

In view of the steep rise in COVID-19 cases across the state, the South Goa district administration had ordered the ship to be sent back to Mumbai with all the passengers who were COVID-19 positive in isolation.
