In the third and final phase of Zilla Parishad and Panchayat Samiti elections in Baran, Sriganganagar and Karauli districts of Rajasthan, around 69 per cent polling was recorded on Saturday. The highest voter turnout of 77.52 percent was recorded in Padmapur Panchayat Samiti of Sri Ganganagar district.
State Election Commissioner PS Mehra said that in the third phase, polling was held for 141 wards of seven Panchayat Samiti and their respective Zilla Parishad constituencies. He said that 6.19 lakh voters exercised their franchise in the three districts. A total of 68.99 percent voting was recorded in this phase.
According to the official, 64.35 percent exercised their franchise in the first phase and 68.57 percent in the second phase. The counting of votes for all three phases will be held on December 21 at the district headquarters.
