Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Jamia Hamdard and six other deemed-to-be universities have expressed their willingness to use the Common University Entrance Test.CUETUniversity Grants Commission (UGC) Chairman M Jagadesh Kumar said on Monday that the scores for admitting students to undergraduate courses.
The UGC Chairman held a meeting today with the Vice Chancellors and Directors of these eight deemed universities which receive maintenance grants from the UGC.
Apart from TISS, Mumbai and Jamia Hamdard, New Delhi, the other six universities were Gandhigram Rural Institute, Gandhigram, Dindigul Dayalbagh Educational Institute, Agra, Gurukul Kangri, Haridwar, Gujarat Vidyapeeth, Ahmedabad, Avinashilingam Institute of Home Science, Coimbatore, and Ramakrishna Vivekananda. Kumar further added, “He has also given some useful tips. This is an opportunity for all universities to adopt CUET and free the students from the stress of scoring very high class 12th marks or writing multiple entrance exams.”
‘Use CUET scores to admit students to UG programmes’
The UGC has already written to the vice-chancellors of all central universities and colleges to use CUET scores for admitting students to undergraduate programmes.
Kumar had last week said that CUET scores would be mandatory for admission to 45 central universities for undergraduate programmes.
The application window for CUET will open on April 2 and close on April 30.
CUET (UG)-2022 will be conducted in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode
“I told them about the main features of the Common University Entrance Test and how it would be beneficial for the students.
“I made it clear to them that the existing reservation policies of the institutions will not be affected and they can continue to admit students to undergraduate programs as per the existing reservation policies, except that the admission should be based on CUET scores and not on the basis of class . 12 board marks,” Kumar added.
