Eight people, including those working as Maoist “couriers” and Maoist “sympathizers”, were arrested and some explosives recovered from them in Telangana’s Mulugu district on Monday, police said.

They were traveling in a car and a bike when they were caught by the police on credible information during vehicle checking on the outskirts of Ramachandrapuram village in Venkatapuram mandal, a police release said.

Mulugu District Superintendent of Police Goush Alam said that after careful checking of their vehicles, the police found some explosive material, metal parts of IED material, revolutionary literature of the CPI (Maoist) party along with some medicines.

During interrogation, he told the police that sometime back he along with other accused had met banned CPI (Maoist) leader Damodhar and some members of Dalam to solve their land problem and got attracted towards the revolutionary ideology of the rebels. Were.

Furthermore, they revealed that they are all working as active Maoist “couriers” for the banned CPI (Maoist) party. The SP said that on the instructions of Damodar, the accused had procured some explosive material, revolutionary literature and medicines and were going to give them to Damodar with the intention of killing the police party that came to the forest for the search operation.

A senior police officer said that apart from cars and bikes, the police seized iron parts of IEDs, wires, detonators, batteries, revolutionary literature, medicines for diabetes and other ailments meant for ailing UG cadres of the CPI (Maoist) party. was registered.
