The excise team on Sunday seized 82 kg of ganja from a tourist bus coming from Odisha at the Walayar check post near here. Five persons have been arrested in connection with the seizure.
Those arrested were 39-year-old bus driver Binish from Aluva; 40-year-old Pratish from Kodungallur; and Odisha native Rajesh Digal, 30; Moumila Diggle, 31; and Sujit Kumar, 31.
The bus was taking migrant laborers from Odisha to Perumbavur. This seizure was made on the basis of secret information received by Excise Inspector (Parali) KR Ajit.
The ganja was being taken to Perumbavoor for distribution amongst the wholesale dealers.
