Ranveer Singh on Wednesday said that his film “83” is not just a film but a tribute to the moment that created history in the game of Indian cricket.
The cricket-drama, directed by filmmaker Kabir Khan, chronicles India’s victory under the captaincy of Kapil Dev, when the team won its first World Cup trophy in 1983 by defeating West Indies in the final.

Expressing gratitude to his fans and well-wishers, the 36-year-old actor posted a heartfelt note on Instagram thanking everyone for appreciating the trailer, which has garnered over 50 million views.
He wrote, “Thanks to the film fans across the country and abroad, our film fraternity, the press… People from all walks of life and generations have appreciated the film’s trailer, and we are filled with gratitude and joy.”

For Singh, ’83’ is not ‘just a film’ but his way of paying tribute to India’s historic win against West Indies.

Actors Pankaj Tripathi, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Jeeva, Saqib Saleem, Jatin Sarna, Chirag Patil, Dinkar Sharma, Nishant Dahiya, Hardy Sandhu, Sahil Khattar, Ammy Virk, Adinath Kothare, Dhairya Karva and R Badri rounded out the cast of the film. .
Presented by Reliance Entertainment and Phantom Films, ’83’ will hit the theaters on December 24 in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam.
Kamal Haasan’s Rajkamal Films International and Akkineni Nagarjuna’s Annapurna Studios have joined hands with Reliance Entertainment to present the Tamil and Telugu versions of “83”.
The production of Prithviraj Sukumaran and Kichha Sudeepa will present Malayalam and Kannada versions.
