Mumbai, March 15 (PTI) Union Minister Piyush Goyal on Friday handed over the keys of new houses to 91 slums displaced by a road project in Borivali West in North Mumbai.

Speaking at the event, the Minister of Commerce and Industry said, “The eligible slums should get houses in the same area. Officers should work with integrity to accelerate the slum rehabilitation process. No outsider should illegally enter the region, and no local resident should be displaced incorrectly. Officers should ensure this. “He directed civilian officers to ensure that public places and green areas have not been illegally occupied.

Civil officers will be held accountable for any misconduct in this matter, Goyal – North Mumbai Lok Sabha member Goyal – said.

Of the 224 eligible people affected by the project, 133 have already been allotted new houses.

Goyal also started a program for free delivery of sanitary pads for 8,000 schoolgirls in North Mumbai.

He said that the program will be extended to the entire city of Mumbai, in which 50,000 girls will be covered in municipal schools. PTI RR TRB
