The video was shared on Vasan’s Instagram handle @youtubeswadofficial. According to Vasan, the huge pot or ‘deg’ used for cooking rice is 500 years old and dates back to the time of Akbar. It can easily accommodate up to 4800 kg of food. Since the video was uploaded, it has garnered over 8 lakh views and over 88 thousand likes along with several comments.

In the video, first, the bottom is filled with water and other raw materials like flour, turmeric, zafran, kewra and more. It takes one and a half hours for the mixture to boil. Then 1866 kg of rice, 1866 kg of sugar, and 100 kg of dry fruits are mixed in huge quantities. Since the size and quantity of cooked rice is huge, the dargah also has a special handmade wooden ‘karchi’ or spatula, using which they mix the rice with the help of two people. When the rice is ready, dry fruits and makhana are spread. Finally, they take out the rice and serve it among the pilgrims.
