Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan said on Friday that 358 cases of Omicron type coronavirus have been reported in 17 states of India. Of these, 117 people have recovered from the infection.
According to the Union Health Ministry data, 121 people who tested positive for the new variant had a foreign travel history, while 44 infected people had no foreign travel history. There is currently no information available about the 18 others who have tested positive for the Omicron variant.
Furthermore, of the total cases of Omicron type, 87 patients were fully vaccinated against the virus, two patients were partially vaccinated, while seven patients were not vaccinated.

According to the data shown by the health ministry, out of the total omicron cases, 183 were analyzed by India. Of these, 73 percent had a history of foreign travel, 70 percent of patients were asymptomatic, and 91 percent were fully vaccinated.

In view of the rise in COVID-19 cases and concerns over the Omron version, Rajesh Bhushan urged people to remain vigilant and follow COVID-appropriate behaviour.
Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan said, “On December 7 the WHO stated that Omicron has a significant growth advantage over the delta, which means it has greater transmission potential. Omicron cases double within 1.5-3 days, So we have to be vigilant with COVID-appropriate behaviour.” said in a press conference on Friday.
