According to Sagar Baghmare, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Jetpur, Mukesh and Lalchand met before the robbery, while Dileep and Rahul executed the plan on January 13.
The incident happened on January 13 when Jogia was returning home on his scooty after closing his shop in Jhanjmer village, about 18 km from Upleta town. When Jogia reached a secluded spot between Jhanjhmer and Supendi village, Dilip and Rahul attacked him from behind and hit him on the head with a bat, causing Jogia to lose control and walk off the road.
As soon as he fell from the scooty, the accused threw chilli powder on his face and snatched a bag full of cash, gold and silver jewelery worth Rs 75,400 from his hand and fled.
On the night of January 13, after Jogia filed a complaint, the police checked the CCTV footage installed near the jeweler’s shop and found Mukesh and Lalchand walking suspiciously near the shop. Police took both of them into custody for questioning. During interrogation, he admitted to being involved in a conspiracy to rob Jogia.
He revealed the names of Dileep and Rahul who had committed the crime. Based on the information, the police arrested all the four accused and registered a case under other sections of the Indian Penal Code.
