Nicole Smith-Ludwick stood on top of Burj Khalifa as the A380 flew past her
In August 2021, UAE-based airline Emirates created a huge buzz by filming an advertisement on top of the tallest building in the world. This time around, he has taken it up a notch by recreating the video with an extra twist. In native ad, professional skydiving instructor Nicole Smith-Ludwick stood on top of Burj Khalifa as the camera zoomed out and a heart-stopping view of Dubai stretched out beneath it. This time, Nicole Smith-Ludwick is back on top of the Burj Khalifa—which, at 2,722-feet, is the tallest building in the world—but she’s not alone.
The new advertisement also featured a giant A380 aircraft that was specially featured to promote the Dubai Expo 2020.
The beginning of the ad shows Ms Smith-Ludwick dressed as an Emirates airline flight attendant, holding a series of placards standing on the tallest building in the world. “I’m still here,” reads the first card, and then they say: “Wow, I can see the Dubai Expo” and “Finally, here comes my friends”.
At this point, the camera shows an Emirates A380 flying behind it. Painted in bright colors and branded with the words “Dubai Expo”, the plane circles around the building.
After sharing the ad last week, Emirates took viewers behind the scenes and explained how it was filmed.
“Look behind the scenes to see how we took our A380 for a spin around the Burj Khalifa to build our new ad,” the airline wrote on Twitter, sharing the video. The video explains that the ad was filmed with careful planning and with the highest security protocols.
It took 11 attempts, as she stood on top of the Burj Khalifa, to get a shot of the plane behind Ms. Smith-Ludwick.
