Coimbatore: AIADMK MLA People of Coimbatore district have alleged that their party’s candidates for the urban local body elections are being harassed by the election officials.
AIADMK legislators, led by former minister SP Velumani, on Friday complained to district collector GS Sameeran that officials when they come to file nominations refuse AIADMK candidates citing frivolous reasons and non-existent rules.
Velumani said some election officials ask candidates for urban elections to have an affidavit stating that they do not hold any posts in rural local bodies, while some insist that there should be initials and not prefixes. needed.
