The Karnataka State Cricket Association on Thursday allowed 100 per cent crowd attendance for the second Test between India and Sri Lanka at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru following a sharp drop in Covid-19 cases and high demand for tickets.
“KSCA is pleased to inform that the India vs Sri Lanka Day-Night Test Cricket Match being played at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore from 12-16 March 2022 has received an overwhelming response to the viewership.
“Given the high response numbers and since there are no further restrictions for spectators, KSCA will open the sale of tickets to the full capacity of the stadium,” KSCA treasurer Vinay Mrityunjay said in a statement.
The prices of tickets per day have been kept at Rs 1250 (Grand Terrace), Rs 750 (E-Executive), Rs 500 (D Corporate) and Rs 100 respectively.
The venue, which was previously scheduled to host the Test match, was former captain Virat Kohli’s 100th in the longest format, along with Mohali to honor a direct flight from Bengaluru to Colombo for the Sri Lankan team.
India won the first Test by an innings and 222 runs to take a 1-0 lead in the two-match series. This series is part of the current ICC World Test Championship.
Bengaluru last hosted a Test match in June 2018, with Afghanistan making their debut in the format.
In the first Test between India and Sri Lanka, which was also Virat Kohli’s historic 100th Test, 50 per cent crowd capacity was allowed at the PCA Stadium in Mohali.
