In Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir, a CRPF jawan, who came home on leave this evening, was gunned down by terrorists. This is the fourth attack by terrorists in the last three days.
Central Reserve Police Force jawan Mukhtar Ahmed was taken to the district hospital where he died.
The area has been cordoned off and a search has been started to nab the attackers, news agency PTI quoted a police official as saying.
This comes close on the heels of the killings of two village heads in Kashmir. Two days after Khanmoh’s sarpanch Bashir Ahmed Bhat, terrorists shot dead BJP sarpanch Shabbir Ahmed Mir in Kulgam on Friday. The terrorists were gunned down on the outskirts of Srinagar.
Terrorist incidents have increased in Jammu and Kashmir in the last one week.
Khanmoh’s sarpanch shot deadOn Wednesday, terrorists are on target. The killing of Lakshya was carried out hours after an IED attack in Jammu region’s Udhampur town left one person dead and 14 others injured.
Terrorists hurled a grenade in the busy market of Srinagar on Sunday. Two people died and 38 others were injured.
Meanwhile, four terrorists, including a Pakistani Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) commander, were killed and one arrested during three separate encounters with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir. A police spokesman said the encounter took place in Pulwama, Ganderbal and Kupwara districts of the Kashmir Valley.
