Viral video shows Maharashtra’s unique ‘jewellery sweet’, would you like to try it

India is home to many different and unique cuisines. As you travel around the country, you will discover that each state has its own set of snacks, street food and sweets. One such sweet from the state of Maharashtra is doing the rounds on the internet recently. The name of this unique sweet in the shape of a garland of flowers is ‘Gathi’. Flower-like structures made from syrup crystallize and stick to stars to make this interesting treat from Maharashtra. ‘Jewelry Mithai’ or ‘Phool Mithai’ as it is known locally. The video of Maharashtra’s jewelery sweet was shared on YouTube by popular blogger Amar Sirohi, who goes by the name Foodie Incarnate. It was one of the top trending videos on YouTube India and garnered 3.3 million views and counting.

In the clip, the blogger shows us the entire making of the amazing dessert. He said it was from a store in Nashik but was popular across the country Maharashtra, Gati had a special significance during the festival of Holi and Gudi Padwa, and was sold by the kilo at this time. The video shows the step-by-step process of preparing Jewelery Sweets. First, a thick syrup is prepared and then separated into two parts. One part was kept as it is, while the other part was tinted orange by adding natural food coloring. The two syrups were poured alternately into flower molds, and then removed The resulting flower garlands aka ornaments to give sweets!

The audience left many praising comments for the sweet shared by the blogger. “Wow never seen this!! Thank you,” wrote one, while another said, “Say it”valley“This is one of the tastiest forms of sugar you can eat!”
