BJP’s Kirit Somaiya said, Mumbai Police has filed a fake FIR in my name

Former BJP MP Kirit Somaiya on Tuesday claimed that a fake FIR was registered in his name at Mumbai’s Khar police station, which he did not even sign. Rana and her MLA husband Ravi Rana. Talking to reporters outside Khar police station, Somaiya claimed that Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray had sent some “goons” to attack him.

“They should face strict action. It will definitely happen, the BJP leader said before entering the police station. Mumbai Police registered a fake FIR in my name, it does not have my signature. Is Mumbai Police Commissioner Sanjay Pandey unaware of such legality? He said that I have come here to register a real FIR against the fake FIR registered by the police.

An official had earlier said that the Mumbai Police late Saturday night registered an FIR against Somaiya’s driver for allegedly negligent driving, which resulted in minor injuries to a Shiv Sena councilor and a party worker. On Monday, the police had also arrested four Shiv Sena members, including former city mayor Vishwanath Mahadeshwar, for vandalizing Somaiya’s car.

After Somaiya’s arrest, Somaiya’s car, returning from Khar police station after meeting Independent MP Navneet Rana and her MLA husband Ravi Rana, was vandalized by some people on Saturday evening. The Rana couple’s plan to recite Hanuman Chalisa outside CM Thackeray’s private residence ‘Matoshree’ had enraged Shiv Sena workers on Saturday morning. The Rana couple later canceled the plan amid strong opposition from Shiv Sena, but both were arrested.

Maharashtra Home Minister Dilip Walse Patil had said that Somaiya should know that the arrested persons can only meet their legal advisor or relatives, and the BJP leader has no work to go to the police station to meet the Rana couple.
