The Mumbai Police on Friday told a special court that Amaravati MP Navneet Rana and her MLA husband Ravi Rana’s plan to recite Hanuman Chalisa outside Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray’s residence may seem innocent, but so Was. Truly a “big conspiracy” to challenge the MVA government.

It was difficult to follow. freely and thus the feeling of hatred will grow to create a rift against the Muslim religion.
The police made these claims in an affidavit filed through Special Public Prosecutor Pradeep Gharat opposing the bail pleas of the Rana couple, who were arrested on April 23 on sedition and other charges. Special Judge RN Rokade said he would hear the bail applications on Saturday.

The police in their affidavit also rejected the claims of the Ranas that they only wanted to chant the Hanuman Chalisa, which is an act of prayer, and therefore cannot be considered a crime. “However innocent these arguments may be, the respondent (police) says that these submissions are at the most hypocritical because the plan to read Hanuman Chalisa at ‘Matoshree’, the private residence of Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, is a grand conspiracy to create a law and order situation. challenge,” the affidavit said.

It said, “Such a law and order situation, the accused persons are trying to show that the present state government is not sponsoring Hinduism and the chief minister is against Hindus.”
The police further claimed that the criticism, even if it is strongly worded, should be done within reasonable limits. “However, when the use of words has a malafide tendency or intention to cause public disorder or disturbance of law and order, provisions of sedition are attracted,” the police said in its affidavit.
