Power Minister slams Delhi government for misleading public on power crisis

According to Singh’s letter, the coal stock at Dadri Plant was 202.40 thousand tonnes, which is sufficient at 85% PLF (Plant Load Factor) for 8.43 days as on April 29, 2022. Similarly, the coal stock at Unchahar plant was 97.62 thousand tonnes, which is sufficient. 4.6 days at 85% PLF or capacity utilization.

Coal at Kahalgaon plant was 187 thousand tonnes (5.31 days), Farakka 234.22 thousand tonnes (8.38 days) and Jhajjar 162.56 thousand tonnes (8.02 days) as on 29 April. The Union Minister further said that all the five thermal power stations have sufficient reserve coal reserves for 5-8 days.

Singh said the stock is replenished on a daily basis – both from domestic sources and imported coal for blending purposes. He further added that NTPC is announcing 100% availability from Dadri and Unchahar power stations.

Singh said an attempt was made to create panic by using wrong data and it was condemnable. Citing some past examples, he said that an attempt was made to create panic among people about the disruption in power supply in October 2021, on the grounds that the gas supply to Delhi’s gas-based plants was likely to be disrupted. which proved to be baseless.

The minister stressed that advance gas supply was not arranged by the Delhi government and Delhi’s electricity department is expected to keep a watch on these issues.
