The South Korean forward curled a 20-yard effort into the top corner in the 79th minute to seal a brace that led him to a career-high 19 Premier League goals in a season. He is only three goals behind Liverpool striker Mohamed Salah in the race for the Golden Boot.

Tottenham are still looking to relegate Arsenal from fourth place in the remaining four games, including their derby meeting on 12 May. Arsenal registered a 2-1 win at West Ham on Sunday.

Son gave a corner to the Tottenham opener in the 22nd minute and drove an unmarked Harry Kane to the bottom corner to end a five-game goalless run.

It was also Tottenham’s first attempt on target in 221 minutes.

The hosts fought till the hour mark to see another goal when they doubled their lead.

Cristian Romero was the architect as he produced a crunching tackle at the half line on Caglar Soyuncu, which freed Dejan Kulusevski and the Swede ran clear and teased Son, who found the bottom corner.

Son’s second came when he picked up the ball to the right, cut inside and swung a shot high into the net.

Leicester consoled in stoppage time when Kelechi Ihenacho sent a low shot from the edge of the field into the bottom corner.

It was clear that Leicester’s focus is on Thursday’s Europa Conference League semi-final second leg match, which has made eight changes from a 1-1 draw with Roma at home.

With Leicester 11th in the standings, winning the competition is the only way to return to Europe next season.
