Prayagraj: Three members of an inter-state dacoit gang involved in robbery and murder cases across the Ganges were injured and arrested during a police encounter near Tharwai area. Prayagraj in the district in the early hours of Wednesday
SSP (Prayagraj) Ajay Kumar said, “A police team had an encounter with an inter-state gang of dacoits in Trans Ganga area and three of them were injured in the exchange of fire.”
A total of seven members of the inter-state gang have been arrested by the police, he said.
The SSP claimed that the arrested gang members were involved in incidents of Gohri robbery and murder (Phaphamu) and Khebrajpur dacoity and murder (Tharwai).
In the Gohri case, on the intervening night of 21 and 22 November 2021, dacoits brutally murdered four members of the same family in the Phaphamau police station area in Trans Ganga.
In the Khebrajpur incident, on the intervening night of 22 and 23 April, dacoits allegedly killed five members of the same family in the house of Tharwai police station area.
The SSP has announced a cash prize of Rs 25,000 to the police team.
