Former media executive Indrani Mukerjea walked out of Mumbai’s Byculla Women’s Jail on Friday, six and a half years after her arrest for the alleged murder of her daughter Sheena Bora in August 2015. Smiling 50-year-old Indrani was relieved to be out of jail. At around 5.30 pm, Indrani stepped out of jail, hugged her lawyer Sana Rais Sheikh, smiled and waited for the media. Mukherjee, facing trial for the murder of his daughter Sheena on April 24, 2012, was granted bail by the Supreme Court on Wednesday. The conditions of his bail include surrendering his passport before a special court, not leaving India without the court’s permission, and not contacting any witnesses in the case or tampering with evidence.
