Banaras Hindu University (BHU) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Fast Retailing, a Japanese retail conglomerate, to provide internship opportunities to BHU students. India and Japan, through the Japanese Business Culture Programme, Global Management Program and Internship Opportunities at UNIQLO India.
As part of this three-year collaboration, selected undergraduate and postgraduate BHU students (about 30-100 of them) will be exposed to the UNIQLO business model, Japanese culture, language and society. Under the initiative, online classes will also be taken by UNIQLO and partner universities in Japan such as Waseda University, Kyoto University, Tokyo Foreign Languages University. On completion of the programme, students will be awarded certificates from these universities.

“Under the Global Management Programme, three BHU students (UG and PG) will get an opportunity for business sessions with global market experts to learn more about world industry and business. The five-day session will be held in Japan for which all expenses including travel, accommodation, boarding etc. will be borne by UNIQLO. The students have already been selected for these sessions,” informed the institute in its press release.
Talking about the internship, the institute claimed that the students of BHU will also get the opportunity of internship with UNIQLO India. Five selected students (UG and PG) will be able to undertake one month internship at New Delhi or any other UNIQLO location in India. It will be a sponsored internship for which students will be given stipend and certificates will be awarded.
Pro. NV Chalapathi Rao, Coordinator, International Cooperation, BHU said that the MoU was signed by Vice Chancellor Prof. This is in line with the call of Sudhir’s Jain. On behalf of BHU, Registrar, Prof AK Singh signed the MoU while Noriaki Koyama, Group Senior Executive Officer, Fast Retailing Co Ltd digitally signed from Japan.
