Temple vandalized in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda, investigation underway

Miscreants allegedly ransacked a temple in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda. The matter is being investigated after the incident triggered protests in the Union Territories.

Those who vandalized a temple in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district staged protests in parts of the Union Territory on Monday, June 6. Police registered a case after pictures of alleged vandalism at Lord Vasuki Nag temple surfaced on social media.

Investigation is on to ascertain the facts about the alleged sabotage attempt at the temple at 17,400 feet Kailash Kund.

In view of the protest, police have beefed up security in and around the temple and other sensitive areas as a precautionary measure.

Reacting to the incident, Vikramaditya Singh, the grandson of the last Dogra ruler Maharaja Hari Singh, said, “Received disturbing reports of local miscreants vandalizing Vasuki Nag Temple, Kailash Kund, Bhaderwah. I personally met the DC and SSP. Spoke to Doda. Please investigate the matter at the earliest and bring the guilty to justice.”

The Congress unit of Jammu and Kashmir also expressed serious concern over the act done with a view to hurting religious sentiments and creating hatred and distress in the society.
