Ampere Magnus range at Greaves Electric Mobility’s Ranipet factory

Ampere Electric, an electric two-wheeler brand under Greaves Electric Mobility, announced the roll-out of its 50,000th electric scooter from its new Ranipet facility in Tamil Nadu. The Ranipet facility commenced operations late last year and the milestone unit commenced from the plant about 7 months later. Ampere said the milestone was reached due to “consumer conscious shift towards sustainable and affordable electric mobility, increased product awareness, rising fuel prices and increased awareness of environmental issues”.

Commenting on this milestone, Sanjay Behl, CEO and Executive Director, Greaves Electric Mobility, said, “Our EV megasite was developed with the intention of accelerating the ecologically virtuous cycle that our planet deserves, And it’s unbelievable that we’ve reached 50,000. scar. Due to increased customer awareness, preference for green mobility and incentives offered by various states, we have reached a turning point for EVs and are optimistic about large scale EV adoption in the country.

Behl said the company is also proud of the plant employees for their hard work and dedication towards reaching this milestone. The Ranipet facility has a predominantly female workforce – women make up more than 70 percent of the on-site workers.

Greaves Electric Mobility’s Ranipet plant was Inaugurated in November last year, The 35-acre facility, located in the industrial hub of Tamil Nadu, was opened with the aim of becoming a production hub for both the domestic and export markets. The plant has an annual production capacity of 1.2 lakh units and plans to expand to 10 lakh units in future.
