Watch: UP Police constable rescues elderly man trapped in swamp

The elderly has been identified as 54-year-old Brajesh.

A police constable named Sandesh Kumar is being praised on social media for rescuing an elderly man trapped in the swamp. A video showing the rescue operation was shared by Agra Police and then re-shared on Twitter by Uttar Pradesh Police.

The clip shows Mr Kumar entering the swamp and rescuing the elderly man with the help of a rope. The police officer carries him on his shoulders, and the other officers pull him to safety.

In the caption, UP Police wrote, “Salute to the courageous efforts of constable Sandesh Kumar and team PS Barhan of @agrapolice, who marshaled the available resources to rescue an old man trapped in a marshy land.”

The clip has gone viral on the internet since it was shared. Netizens applauded the police officer for saving the old man. “This is very commendable. Appreciate everyone involved in this rescue operation,” wrote one user. “Remarkable, the savior needs to be honored for his bravery,” said a third. “Done by Agra Police Great job done. Salute to that man,” said the third.

Agra Police gave information That station house officer (SHO) Sher Singh led the rescue operation. Sharing the video with the caption, he wrote, ‘On the information of an old man getting trapped in the swamp, the constable of the police station, Mr. Sandesh Kumar, showing indomitable courage, landed himself in the swamp with the help of rope etc. ., rescued the old man trapped in the swamp.”

Officials also said that a very disturbed and injured elderly person was immediately sent to the Community Health Center Etmadpur for treatment through fire service ambulance. They identified the 54-year-old as Brajesh, a resident of Tajganj in Agra.
