L Murugan visits cholera affected villages in Karaikal

The Union Minister of State for Fisheries is on a three-day visit to Puducherry as part of the BJP’s preparations for the Lok Sabha elections.

Union Minister of State for Fisheries L. Murugan arrived in Puducherry on Thursday on a three-day visit as part of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s preparations for the Lok Sabha elections in the union territory.

Party President V. Saminathan and Home Minister A. A BJP delegation led by Namasivayam welcomed the Union Minister at Gorimedu on Thursday morning. Soon after a reception at Gorimedu, the local leadership accompanied Mr. Murugan to Karaikal and visited cholera affected villages in the enclave.

In Karaikal, the Union Minister inspected the affected areas and visited those who are undergoing treatment for cholera in the GH. He will return to Puducherry on Thursday night.

Mr. Murugan has planned to hold meetings with office-bearers and leaders of various frontal organizations on Friday and Saturday as part of the BJP’s preparations to contest from the Puducherry Lok Sabha seat. Party officials said the Union minister has also planned to interact with the public, especially in rural areas, during his stay here.
