Daily life affected due to heavy rains in Hyderabad

Musi river flowing in Hyderabad was submerged in water due to heavy rains.

Hyderabad:

Normal life was affected in parts of Hyderabad on Wednesday due to torrential rains lashing Telangana for the past few days.

Moderate to light rain occurred in many areas in Hyderabad, Telangana State Development Planning Society said citing rainfall data till 8 am on Wednesday.

The city’s Himayat Sagar and Osman Sagar reservoirs were close to FTL (Full Tank Level) at 11 am on Wednesday.

The Musi river flowing in Hyderabad was submerged due to heavy rains in the catchment areas during the last few days.

In view of the heavy flow in the river, the bridges of Moosarambagh and Chadarghat have been closed.

Residential areas like LB Nagar and Malakpet faced waterlogging, causing inconvenience to the people.

In its weather forecast and warnings, the IMD’s weather station said heavy rain is very likely at isolated places over Bhadradri-Kothagudem Khammam, Nalgonda and other districts from 1300 hrs on Wednesday to 0830 hrs on July 28.

It said that light to moderate rain or thundershowers are very likely to occur at many places in Telangana from 1300 hrs today till 8:30 am on July 28.

Telangana Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar on Tuesday held a video conference with district collectors and senior officials in view of the possibility of more rains following heavy rains in some parts of the state and asked them to remain alert.
